Boudoir over 40 - let’s talk about it.
I’ve had several women reach out lately that think they’re, dare I say it - too old!
Well, guess what? You’re absolutely not too old. In fact, you’re RIGHT ON TIME.
I joke, a little.
But seriously, there’s no “perfect time” or “perfect age” for anything. And that includes a boudoir photoshoot.
In today’s blog post, I’m sharing a recent session I had with Brooke, a woman in her 40s, who rocked her session like a BOSS!
So, if you’re a woman over 40 who’s been thinking about booking a boudoir photo session, but haven’t quite pulled the trigger yet, stick around.
I’m sharing how I created a custom photo session for Brooke that was uniquely “her” - green sneakers and all!

Brooke’s Story: Boudoir Over 40, Yes Please!
A lot of my clients come in to create photos for themselves or as a gift for a significant other. But Brooke - well, she hit the boyfriend jackpot!
See, Brooke had recently lost a lot of weight and was feeling pretty good about herself (as she should!) and wanted to do something for herself.
Her boyfriend took note of this and booked a surprise boudoir photoshoot for her, paid in full! All she had to do was show up, be pampered, and walk out feeling like the badass she is!
This alone was pretty awesome. And after meeting Brooke, I knew instantly why her boyfriend treated her to this session.
She fully embodied being confident in both her body and age! And I, in my 20’s, am taking notes! And you probably will too.
Brooke is a badass who rocked boudoir over 40, (I mean LOOK at her!) and you can too!
Embracing Your Style: How Brooke's Sneakers Inspired Our Photo Shoot
One of the fun parts about Brooke’s session was that she embraced her personal style and love of sneakers.
Her boyfriend lovingly referred to her as a “sneaker-head” and said he often gifts her sneakers too. Again, she won the boyfriend lotto, right?
Anyway, instead of wearing high heels, she went with a favorite pair of green sneakers for some of her photos, and I’m obsessed! Her green sneakers added a touch of personality to her photos that make them look, well - like her! And a fun bonus for me - they match my brand colors! I’m calling that a win/win.
Brooke’s love of sneakers is a great example of how boudoir photography can be tailored to suit YOU.
If you’ve been around for a while, you know I have plenty of options you’re welcome to wear from my client closet. But adding personal touches really makes things *pop* with a level of uniqueness. So keep that in mind when you're deciding what to wear or bring in for your own session.

Embracing Your Body Regardless of Size or Age
As we age, women are force-fed unrealistic ideals of what a woman's body should look like. And that sends many of us into shame spirals. It’s awful, and I’ve had my fair share of it.
But - boudoir photography is the perfect way to begin the journey into loving your body.
Or, if you’re already in love with your body, it’s a way to deepen that relationship and celebrate it!
And Brooke is the perfect example of this.
Even though this was our first session together, she walked in with a mentality of “I’ve had kids, I’m divorced, and I’m here to treat myself.”
She knew she was deserving of her boudoir photoshoot, and you should too.
If I had to put her attitude into words, it would be, “Let’s fucking do this!”
That’s how cool, calm, and confident she was. And I was her biggest cheerleader!
During her session, I encouraged her to embrace her body and focus on the things she loved about herself. We celebrated her, captured her natural beauty, and most of all - created a safe space for her to explore her badass confidence!

The three women at AJP. Ashlee, Morgan, and Kaitlyn made me feel so empowered and beautiful! They felt like old friends and not complete strangers staring at my half-nude body.
One or two words to describe how you felt when you saw your final images?
I screamed! I couldn’t believe it was me! I felt incredibly sexy!
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about doing a session?
Do it. Spend the money. Use Ashlee. She’s incredible! She will make you feel completely at ease. Just walk through the damn door and be yourself. Let someone show you how beautiful you really are!
